The Irkutsk International Airport is one of the largest airports in the Asian part of Russia; this is a hub for regional and international air carriages and is located in eight kilometers from the Irkutsk downtown (in fact, it is within the city), in 60 km from the Siberian pearl, the Baikal Lake.
The Irkutsk Airport has one artificial runway with arm-concrete covering and its height difference comes to over 30 m. The summary passenger turnover for two passenger terminals comes to 1,450 passengers per hour. The cargo terminal is equipped with diesel loaders, lifting machines, area for containers, electronic and mechanical scales for shipments weighting up to 30 metric tons. The Airport also includes the Air Gates Hotel, Aviation Service (onboard catering workshop), repairs workshop and a medical service. There is an area for VIP passengers in the international terminal building.
